Earlier 19th century. 2-storey, 4-bay house, now office, with circular stair tower to rear. Harl to entrance elevation, sandstone rubble to rear; sandstone ashlar dressings. Base course; lintel course; moulded surrounds to windows of entrance elevation.
W (ENTRANCE) ELEVATION: recessed timber door and fanlight to penultimate bay to left; single window aligned above at 1st floor. Regular fenestration to remaining bays.
E (REAR) ELEVATION: stair tower to left; single window at centre; entrance to right. Single windows at ground and 1st floor to outer right.
N (SIDE) ELEVATION: lean-to. Large shop window at ground; single window at 1st floor.
12-pane timber sash and case windows, double-glazed. Grey slate roof; mutual stack to left with No 12 and 14 Castle Street.
INTERIOR: not seen 1997.
A good example of one of the remaining buildings constructed around Stranraer Castle (see separate list description). Of particular note is the circular stair tower to rear. It suggests an earlier date than the adjacent 12 and 14 Castle Street (see separate list description) with its lower roof height.
