Description

Mid to later 19th century. Single-storey, 3-bay, symmetrical cottage with wing to rear, creating L-plan. Stugged, squared and snecked sandstone; coursed rubble to sides. Chamfered arrises. Eaves course.

E (PRINCIPAL) ELEVATION: modern timber door with 4-pane fanlight at centre, flanked by single windows.

S ELEVATION: blank (SW reveal not seen, 1997).

W ELEVATION: single window to right of rear addition (SW reveal not seen, 1997).

N ELEVATION: single window to left of addition.

Predominantly timber sash and case windows, 6-pane to front; graded grey slate roof; gablehead stacks, cyma recta coping; ashlar coped skews.

Statement of Interest

A very simple, traditional design. Listed, despite its late date, for its survival, quality details and roadside position.
