Description

Earlier 19th century with later alterations. Single storey with attic, 2 bay cottage forming part of irregular terrace. Harl-pointed rubble; droved sandstone dressings. Long and short sandstone surrounds to chamfered openings; projecting cills.

SE (ENTRANCE) ELEVATION: 2-leaf boarded timber door at ground in bay to left; timber-mullioned bipartite window at ground in bay to right; gabled stone wallhead dormer breaking eaves above.

NW (REAR) ELEVATION: not seen 1997.

Lying-pane timber sash and case window at ground; 12-pane glazing in timber sash and case dormer light; small rooflights. Grey slate roof; raised stone skews; replacement rainwater goods. Sandstone ridge stack to NE (mutual with adjacent No 6?); circular terracotta cans.

INTERIOR: not seen 1997.

PAVEMENT: cobbled path to front of house forming part of continuous stretch to front of terrace.

Statement of Interest

B Group with remaining houses in row (with the exception of Poltarie). One of the smallest houses in this irregular terrace, much of its modest detailing remains. A picturesque group of buildings, The Row stands at the centre of Longformacus village, overlooking the Dye Water.
