Earlier to mid 19th century with later additions and alterations. Single storey with attic, 9-bay asymmetrical terrace comprising 3 3 bay cottages with single storey, 2-bay wing to outer left (No 29); shopfront to outer right (former vennel listed with No 35) with gabled dormer above (No 33). Squared and snecked tooled sandstone; stugged long and short surrounds to stop-chamfered openings; projecting cills; moulded skewputts to gableheads.
SE (ENTRANCE) ELEVATION, NO 29: part-glazed timber door centred at ground; 2-pane fanlight. Single windows at ground in flanking bays; gabled dormer breaking eaves in bay to left. Single storey wing to outer left with single window to right; boarded timber garage door to left. NO 31: timber panelled door centred at ground; 2-pane fanlight. Single windows at ground in flanking bays; gabled dormer breaking eaves in bay to left. NO 33: modern, part-glazed timber panelled door at ground in bay to outer left; plate glass fanlight. Single window at ground in bay to right; gabled dormer breaking eaves above; single window at ground in subsequent bay to right. Glazed, pilastered and corniced shopfront at ground in bay to outer right (No 35); 2 single windows in gabled dormer breaking eaves above (No 33).
Predominantly 4-pane glazing in timber sash and case windows. Continuous grey slate roof; stepped and corniced brick ridge and apex stacks; various circular cans.
INTERIORS: not seen 1998.
RAILINGS: hooped iron railings enclosing sites to front of Nos 31 and 33.
B Group comprises Nos 9-30 The Green (inclusive Nos excluding 12, 16, 25 and 29), the former Free Church, Main Street (now a village hall) and Nos 29-33, 35, 39, 41, 43, 47, 36, 46 and 48 Main Street - see separate list entries. Listed for place in continuous run with No 35 Main Street. A well-detailed terrace overlooking the village green. Although the gabled dormer above the shop is part of No 33, the shop itself is part of the adjacent No 35. Old photographs show that this was originally a vennel (see Swinton Post Office photographic archive).
