Description

Probably early to earlier 19th century with later alterations. Irregular plan walled garden (approximately 30,000 m?) set on sloping site to SW of Caldra House. Buttressed and coped red brick walls to NE and NW. Intersecting paths visible/reinstated in part. Lean-to conservatories missing from NW wall. BOTHY: single storey with attic, 2-bay structure adjoining NW wall. Harl-pointed rubble (whinstone in part); sandstone rubble dressings. SW (ENTRANCE) ELEVATION: timber door in bay to right; overhanging timber bracketed canopy; bipartite window at ground in bay to left; gabled window breaking eaves above. (NE (REAR) ELEVATION: small arched window at ground in bay to left. 3- and 4-pane timber glazing; skylights to front and rear. Grey slate roof; raised skews; red brick apex stack.

INTERIOR: not seen 1998.
