Later 18th century. Circular-plan folly. Randomly arranged unhewn stones with tooled pink sandstone rubble lining. Pointed-arched doorways to W and N with polished dressings surmounted by bull's-eye/oculus window opening; elliptical window opening to S; bull's-eye/oculus window opening to E. Roofless (1998).
B Group with Dalhousie Castle, Folly on E Bank of River South Esk, Dalhousie Bridge over River South Esk, West Lodge and Grove Farm (former Dalhousie Walled Garden). Similar to Cockpen Farm, Folly on E Bank of River South Esk (see separate listing). Described as a "washing house" on the 1st edition OS map, the purpose of the tower is unclear. It seems most likely that it was simply a folly forming part of the picturesque landscape.
