Mid and later 19th century. 4-storey tenement with later 2-storey house adjoining in close, squared and snecked sandstone to S, rubble stone to N, band course below 4th floor.
S (PRINCIPAL) ELEVATION: irregular fenestration, 2 doors at ground, stone and cast-iron external dog-leg staircase leading to 1st floor entrance with corniced doorpiece to right, later 2-storey house to left, bow fronted and corniced single storey projection in return.
N ELEVATION: blank wall to 4-storey tenement, window at 1st floor in 2-storey house.
E ELEVATION: adjoining 54 High Street.
8-pane and variety of later timber sash and case windows, modern casements at ground. Brick stacks to N and S of 2-storey house.
INTERIOR: not seen.
BOUNDARY WALLS: brick and rubblestone boundary walls to W.
4th floor has been raised as delineated by band course. Part of the 54, 56 (Close) B Group.
