Description

Probably 18th century with later additions and alterations. Single storey, 8-bay, rectangular-plan range, grouped 2-3-3. Harl-pointed sandstone rubble; cream sandstone dressings. Rubble quoins; droved cream sandstone margins; timber-mullioned bipartites; projecting cills.

S (ENTRANCE) ELEVATION: square-headed doorway in penultimate bay to outer right; flanking bipartite windows. Square-headed doorway at centre; flanking bipartite windows. 2-leaf boarded timber garage door in penultimate bay to outer left; small boarded opening to outer left.

E (SIDE) ELEVATION: single window off-set to left of centre.

Lying-pane timber sash and case windows (glazing predominantly broken); small rooflights. Grey slate roof; stone-coped skews; cast-iron rainwater goods. Regularly spaced, corniced, brick-built ridge and apex stacks; cans missing.

INTERIOR: not seen 1998.

Statement of Interest

Empty 1998. It is assumed that prior to the formation of the garage opening, this range originally comprised 3 3-bay cottages, each with central entrances, like the adjacent, modernised and inhabited block (not listed).
