Description

Earlier 19th century with later alterations. 2-storey with attic, 3-bay rectangular-plan house. Whitewashed harl; painted margins; flush cills.

S (ENTRANCE) ELEVATION: door centred at ground; single windows flanking at ground; single windows in all bays at 1st floor.

E (SIDE) ELEVATION: gable end with part-glazed timber door at ground to right; single window aligned at 1st floor. Single window at ground to left; bipartite window at 1st floor; smaller attic light above.

N (REAR) ELEVATION: single windows at both floors in all bays.

W (SIDE) ELEVATION: gable end with bipartite window at ground to left; single window aligned at 1st floor; smaller attic light above.

12-pane glazing in timber sash and case windows. Grey slate roof. Brick-built apex stacks; various circular cans. Cast-iron rainwater goods.

INTERIOR: not seen 1999.

Statement of Interest

Renovated 1999. A prominently sited house overlooking St Abbs Harbour (see separate list entry). Although some of its side windows have been enlarged, the house remains a good example of a traditional type.
