Description

Earlier 19th century. 2 storey, 3-bay near L-plan farmhouse with single storey wing to left and attached range to right. Harl (farmhouse), painted rubble (range). Painted margins to openings of farmhouse.

E (ENTRANCE) ELEVATION: central advanced gabled porch; boarded timber entrance door, narrow letterbox fanlight; flanking single windows at ground and 1st floor (1st floor windows break eaves to form gables). Single window to piend-roofed single storey wing to outer left. 2 bays of single windows at ground and 1st floor to recessed range to outer right; single opening to outer right of single storey section.

W (REAR) ELEVATION: 6-bay, grouped 2-2-2. 2 entrances to outer left of single storey section of range (double openings to outer left); 2 single windows at ground and 1st floor to 2-storey section of range with exception of entrance to right at ground; single window at ground, 1st floor single window breaking eaves to form gabled dormer in penultimate bay to left, single window at 1st floor to advanced gablehead. Timber door with letterbox fanlight to left of re-entrant angle, single window to right.

S (SIDE) ELEVATION: single window to outer left, small single window to outer right at ground, single gabled dormer window at 1st floor; blank elevation to piend-roofed single storey wing. Single window at ground, single gabled dormer window at 1st floor to re-entrant angle to left; recessed timber door to piend-roofed single storey wing to outer right.

Predominantly 4-pane timber sash and case windows. Grey slate roof; wallhead and apex stacks; circular cans.

INTERIOR: not seen 1999.

BOUNDARY WALLS, GATES AND GATEPIERS: brick boundary wall to E of farmhouse; painted decorative castellated-style brick wall to SE; 2-leaf iron gates.

Statement of Interest

Irregular-plan steading to W. Farmhouse a good example of the gabled openings distinctive to the region.
