Description

Mid 19th century. 2-storey and attic, 2-bay house forming part of terrace. Painted ashlar. Vermiculated base course; 1st floor cill course; cornice; blocking course. Architraves to window openings; cill blocks to ground floor window.

N (ENTRANCE) ELEVATION: corniced and block-pedimented pilastered doorpiece to outer right; timber door; letterbox fanlight; single window at ground to left; regular fenestration at 1st floor. Near central single dormer at attic.

6-pane to upper sash of ground floor window, modern windows at 1st and attic floors. Grey slate roof; rooflight; stone skew; coped stack to left; circular cans.

INTERIOR: not seen 1998.

RAILINGS: spear-headed railings to entrance.

Statement of Interest

Nos 1-29 (Inclusive Nos, no No 13 and 30, 32 and 54 Fullarton Street) form B Group. The N side of Barns Street formed Ayr's first regular terrace development (Dodd, p358).
