Description

Early and earlier 19th century. Two-storey with attic and basement, eight-bay mirrored pair of classical houses (excluding attic) forming part of terrace. Painted ashlar. Banded rustication at basement; ground floor band course; eaves course; cornice; blocking course. Architraved windows; square brackets to lower cill corners at ground floor windows; cornices to ground floor openings.

South (entrance) elevation: central stepped platts oversailing basements to double entrances; timber and glazed timber doors at centre to each pair (penultimate bay to left forms window); decorative looped work above; flanking single windows; regular fenestration at first floor; two canted dormers at centre, single dormer to outer right at attic. Four single windows to centre at basement; two single windows to outer bays; glazed timber doors to re-entrant angles (boarded timber to bay to outer left). Predominantly plate glass timber sash and case windows (four-pane to attic dormers to outer left and right, twelve-pane to basement to outer left); rooflights. Grey slate roof; coped stacks; circular cans.

Interior: not seen 1998.

Railings and Gates: ashlar copes surmounted by spear-headed iron railings (urn finials delineate sections); two gates to central bays; single gates to outer left and right.
