Description

Late 19th century. Polygonal painted iron gatepiers (single only remaining to N and S) and 2-leaf gates (single leaf only remaining to N and S elevations) by Gordon and Winter (Ayr) to N, S, and E entrances to Wellington Square. Polygonal-plan gatepiers; panelled body; wreath frieze; circular finial to coned caps. X-bracing to central gate band; finials to Y-tracery of upper section. Low coped boundary walls surrounding site. Plaque on piend-roofed box adjacent to S entrance reads "Ayrshire Electricity Board." Low coped boundary walls (previously with railings atop).
