Description

Hugh Baird, engineer, 1818-22. Single-span segmental arched canal bridge; yellow sandstone, stugged ashlar with polished dressings.

NE and SW elevations: rusticated arch with nailhead keystone as corbel to carved emblem (castle to NE, tree to SW); railed parapet over arch between piers flanked by octagonal piers with polygonal coping on semi-circular pendant corbels; band course at foot of ashlar-coped parapet; parapet swept to meet piers; ashlar intrados.
