Early 19th century. 2-storey, 3-bay house; rendered single storey wing to W; rendered single storey wing at right angles to E, creating L-plan. Coursed stone to principal elevation; coursed rubble with slaister harling elsewhere. Raised window surrounds and vertical margins at quoins. Built into slope; ground raised at N.
S (PRINCIPAL) ELEVATION: 3 regularly placed tall ground floor windows; 3 smaller 1st floor windows centred above. 2-leaf door to far right. Modern canted bay window to right wing; 2 windows to S; single window in each return of bay window. Window in left return of wing. Glazed doors and regular fenestration to W wing.
W ELEVATION: garage doors in W wing gable; gable of house partially visible; 1st floor window to left.
N ELEVATION: 2 windows to W wing; 2 ground floor windows to centre and left of main house.
E ELEVATION: partially seen; windows in E wing.
Replacement fenestration and doors. Piended slate roof, swept at eaves; slight overhang at eaves; lead flashing. 1 ridge stack; gable end stack to each gable; all coped; circular cans. Tall coped ridge stack to E wing.
INTERIOR: not seen, 2000.
GREENHOUSE
Later 19th century greenhouse situated to S of house. Timber and glass construction. Concrete covered base; concrete paving within. Ornate metal apex brackets; turning pin mechanism for opening windows. Pediment to N door projects out of roof to form dormer; finial to pediment; coloured glass squares in tympanum. Decorative gable finials and cresting.
BOUNDARY WALL AND GATEPIERS
Low rubble wall; curved coping, runs from NW house gable to W; pair of small, corniced gatepiers to W (no gate), tall corniced piers to E; timber gates.
Depicted on the 1st Edition OS Map as 'Milesmark Cottage', situated close to the Elgin Colliery and illustrated as an L-plan house with 2 detached blocks to W (now joined into one W wing).
