Description

James Abernethy & Co, Engineers, Aberdeen, 1884 (signed and dated). Flat-arch, parallel girder bridge over the Water of Bogie. Panelled cast-iron girders, stretching between granite ashlar abutments, and coped granite terminal piers above flanking bolted cast-iron plates of parapet; bowed stays. Soffit of vaulted sections between transverse beams.

Statement of Interest

A functional and sturdy design unusual in the company's repertoire and proudly signed, Gartly Bridge is a prominent historic structure at the north end of the village.
