Description

Dated 1886. Single storey, 3-bay estate cottage with timbered dormer gableheads on corner site. Stugged squared and snecked rubble with ashlar margins and quoins. Basket-arched openings. Chamfered arrises and stone transoms and mullions.

N (HIGH STREET) ELEVATION: centre bay with panelled timber door and plate glass fanlight, bay to right with triangular-plan 4-light transomed window with slated roof breaking eaves into finialled dormerhead, bay to left with 4-light transomed bipartite below carved datestone with monogrammed 'WOD', dormerhead as above.

S ELEVATION: gabled elevation with variety of elements including 2 small piended outshots.

Horizontal 3-pane glazing pattern in timber sash and case windows. Grey slates. Coped ashlar stacks with cans. Deeply overhanging eaves with plain bargeboarding and braces; decorative cast-iron finials.

BOUNDARY WALLS AND GATES: low saddleback-coped boundary walls with decorative ironwork gate and finialled posts.

Statement of Interest

Group with almost identical Park Cottage, St Madoes Road. Ardyne and Park Cottage, built for William Ogilvy Dalgleish, are situated opposite the East Gates of Errol Park.
