Description

Probably 1834. 2-storey, 3-bay, L-plan farmhouse. Squared and snecked rubble with ashlar dressings. Eaves lintel course.

SE (PRINCIPAL) ELEVATION: symmetrical. Door to centre at ground with windows in flanking bays, regular fenestration to 1st floor.

SW ELEVATION: advanced gable to right with windows to each floor at left, consent for sun room addition Ref 01/00625/PUL.

NW (STEADING) ELEVATION: variety of elements including advanced gable to left, lean to porch on return to right and further lean-to bay at right.

NE ELEVATION: blank gabled bay to left with window slapping to right at ground and 2 further windows at 1st floor.

Plate glass glazing in timber sash and case window to SE except at ground left; modern glazing elsewhere. Grey slates. Coped ashlar stacks with some cans; ashlar-coped skews.

BOUNDARY WALLS: coped rubble boundary walls.

B group with Muirhouses Steading and Horsemill, a fine example of an early planned steading dated '1834'.
