Dated 1876. 3-storey corner shop and tenement on falling ground with shaped gable to angled corner and 2nd floor pedimented windowheads breaking eaves. Bull-faced squared and snecked rubble with contrasting raised ashlar dressings. Moulded dividing courses. Tabbed margins. Stop-chamfered arrises. Continuous frieze and cornice over shops at ground to both streets.
N (CORNER) ELEVATION: broad door to ground with window to each floor above in full-height ashlar panel with moulded to cill to 1st floor window, incised panel 'COMMERCIAL PLACE' between floors and datestone in gablehead giving way to tiny carved shield and stack; steeply pitched shaped gable extends to main eaves.
NE (COMMISSIONER STREET) ELEVATION: part-glazed panelled timber door with 2-part fanlight to right of centre at ground, blocked bay beyond and 2 fixed display windows to outer right. 2 traditional shops to left flanking deep-set panelled timber door. Regular fenestration to 4 bays above with 2nd floor as above.
NW (KING STREET) ELEVATION: steeply falling ground. Fixed display windows to left at ground, with modern shop to right. Regular fenestration to 3 bays above with 2nd floor windows breaking eaves into stone-pediment windowheads.
4-pane and plate glass glazing patterns in timber sash and case windows; modern glazing to 2nd floor N, NW and bays to right at NE. Grey slates. Coped ashlar stacks with some cans. Moulded bargeboarding with moulded skewputts to shaped gable.
