Late 19th century. 2-storey and attic, 3-bay villa. Tooled granite ashlar, finely finished to margins of principal elevation, Aberdeen-bond rubble to remainder. Chamfered cills; dividing band course.
NW (PRINCIPAL) ELEVATION: asymmetrical; chamfered segmental-arched doorway to centre bay of ground floor, panelled timber door with stained glass fanlight above, small window flanking to left; window to 1st floor above. Broad canted bay advanced to right, window to each facet at ground and 1st floors, piended roof with 3 iron-finialled gothic lucarnes inset, finial to apex missing. Circular-plan angle-tower to bay to left, bipartite windows to ground and 1st floors, chamfered slate neck rising to multi-light glazed drum surmounted by conical slate roof and iron weathervane at apex.
SW ELEVATION: asymmetrical; openings to right at ground and 1st floors.
SE ELEVATION: not seen 2001.
NE ELEVATION: asymmetrical; piend-roofed single storey addition to left of ground floor, small opening to 1st floor.
2-pane timber sash and case windows. Piended grey slate roof with predominantly lead ridges. Coped wallhead stacks with octagonal cans.
INTERIOR: not seen 2001.
BOUNDARY WALLS: low coped granite wall to NW, rubble walls to remainder.
One of the more unusually detailed and imposing villas on Great Western Road. The bold massing and details such as the angle tower and delicate gothic lucarnes suggest the villa may have been designed by George Coutts.
