Description

1899. Sandstone memorial. Stepped plinth; square base with attached columns and ball finials; string course and panels, one with the inscription 'Alexander Marshall MD Born 17th February 1827 Died 16th April 1894. For 42 Years in practice in Kilmarnock. A Skilful Physician Devoted to Duty. This Memorial of a singularly pure and unselfish life of usefulness erected by public subscription 1896. To live in hearts we leave behind is not to die'. Shaft composed of 4 Corinthian attached columns with chamfered bases; short shaft above with statue of Hygeia (Goddess of Health).
