Description

McArthy and Watson, probably 1902. Pair of corniced, square-plan red sandstone piers with elongated pyramid finials on ball feet in Scots 17th century manner. Each pier comprises 3 cuboid blocks set on a pedestal; pyramid finials likewise hewn from 3 blocks; right-hand finial topped by square cap.

Statement of Interest

Situated on the N side of Roseburn Terrace, by George Pape's Cottages, just before Roseburn New Bridge. Like the dressings employed in this earlier (1894) building, also by McArthy and Watson, these piers, which mark the entrance to the narrow lane leading to Nos 1-7 Roseburn Cliff, are of red sandstone.
