Description

Mid 19th century. Cast-iron milepost mounted on front wall of 92 Buchanan Street. Flat rectangular post; approximately .75m in height and slightly curved in section. Painted black and white. Bears low relief of hand pointing towards Glasgow. 'GLASGOW ROYAL EXCHANGE 19' in raised letters above; 'BALFRON' below.

Statement of Interest

A rare surviving early milepost. It appears to have been resited in it's present position during the postwar redevelopment of Buchanan Street.
