Description

Late 19th century. 2-storey, 2-bay gabled house with mock half-timbering. Red brick. Jettied 1st floor. Some segmental-headed openings with brick voussoirs. Some stone mullions.

S (PRINCIPAL) ELEVATION: bay to left of centre with segmental-headed tripartite window to ground and bipartite window breaking eaves into dormer gablet above, gabled bay to right with rectangular-plan 4-part window at ground and tripartite window above.

E (ENTRANCE) ELEVATION: bay to right of centre at ground with small window and modern part-glazed timber door on return to left of later lean-to porch, single window in bay to left and 2 bipartite windows giving way to dormer gablets at 1st floor.

W (FOREBANK ROAD) ELEVATION: small bipartite window to centre at each floor (that to 1st floor abutting eaves), bay to left with segmental-headed tripartite window at ground and bipartite in gablehead above, small lean-to timber addition in bay to right at ground and bipartite in gablehead above.

N (REAR) ELEVATION: gabled bay to left of centre with tripartite window to original lean-to porch at ground, bipartite on return to left and timber door with adjacent light to left on return to right, tripartite window at 1st floor and blank bay to right.

4-light glazing pattern over plate glass glazing to timber windows at N porch; PVCu glazing elsewhere following original pattern of 4- and 6-light transomed glazing patterns. Red tiles with decorative terracotta ridge tiles. Red brick Shavian stacks with terracotta cans. Overhanging eaves with plain bargeboarding. Cast-iron downpipes with decorative rainwater hoppers.

INTERIOR: deeply-moulded plasterwork cornices; timber fire surrounds (see Notes), that to principal bedroom with carved frieze; panelled timber, architraved doors and timber-balustered dog-leg staircase with finialled newel posts.

BOUNDARY WALLS AND GATEPIERS: semicircular-coped rubble boundary walls and squat coped rubble round gatepiers with hooped ironwork gate.
