Description

Frederick Pilkington, 1867-9. Single storey L-plan lodge to Kingston House (separately listed). Round-arched openings; low-pitched roof with broad eaves; decorative barge-boarding to gables. Rock-faced pink sandstone with cream dressings and band course. Modern extensions to NE and SW.

Plate glass in timber sash and case windows. Grey slates. Tall stacks with cushioned tops and cylindrical cans.

BOUNDARY WALL AND GATEPIERS: rubble-coped random rubble wall. Tall ashlar gatepiers with blank shields and shaped caps.

Statement of Interest

Originally known as Craigend Park, Kingston House was designed for William Christie, tailor, 'Glover and Breeches Maker, 16 George Street.'
