Description

Earlier 19th century. Traditional 3-bay, 2-storey tenement with shop above and flat below. Painted squared and snecked tooled rubble; painted raised ashlar margins; stone cills; stop-chamfered openings (possibly later 19th century). Timber panelled door off-centre right with flanking windows; additional window to far left. 4-pane timber sash and case windows. Pitched roof; grey slates; coped end stacks.

Statement of Interest

This building makes an important contribution to the streetscape of Lanark, demonstrating good detailing and situated in a prominent position at the top of Wellgate, near the former Town Hall and Tollbooth (2-8 High Street linked to 1 Wellgate - see separate listings).
