Description

William Carruthers, 1906. Single storey cricket pavilion with gabled outer bays flanking veranda and lead-roofed timber lantern with leaded glazing to ridge. Swept roof with plain barge-boarding to eaves. Coursed sandstone.

PRINCIPAL ELEVATION: 5-light mullioned windows to gabled outer bays; clock in gable to left, sundial to right. Timber balusters, pediment and Doric columns to veranda; timber cartouche in pediment reads 'In Memoriam John S Yeo, Fettes 1882-1904.

(SIDE) ELEVATIONS: timber panelled doors with small-pane glazed fanlights in gabled pediments flanked by tripartite mullioned windows.

Small-pane glazing to timber windows. Red tiles to roof. Small stone stack to rear.

Statement of Interest

Built on the site of an earlier cricket pavilion, designed by Rowand Anderson in 1883, which was demolished. William Carruthers was a former pupil of Fettes College.
