Early or earlier 19th century; later extension to rear. 2-storey, 5-bay, row of square-plan tenements and shop. Tooled coursed ashlar to NW (principal elevation), squared and random rubble to NW (side); ashlar quoins; stone cills; painted margins; eaves course. Ground falling to NE.
NW (PRINCIPAL) ELEVATION: 5-bay. Central doorway, flush timber door, 2-pane fanlight; flanking windows; doors to outer bays; plain painted timber fascia above. 4 evenly-spaced 1st floor windows.
NE (SIDE) ELEVATION: plain gable.
SE (REAR) ELEVATION: not seen. Ordnance Survey map indicates extension to SW corner.
SW (SIDE) ELEVATION: adjoins No 21 Townhall Street.
12-pane timber sash and case windows to NW; fixed 12-pane timber window to shopfront. Pitched roof; grey slates; straight stone skews; coped wide ashlar stack to centre of ridge.
INTERIOR: single-room shop to ground floor of NE corner of tenement with no original fixtures remaining. Private accommodation not seen (2003).
Listed for important streetscape value and also as last remaining traditional 19th century shop-front with single window and separate door entrance.
