Description

Mid 19th century with late 19th century piend-roofed extension to rear. Single storey and attic, 2-bay cottage with 19th century canted, piend-roofed dormers to attic, and ridge stack. Painted coursed, stugged sandstone; harled sandstone rubble to sides. Droved window and door margins. Late 20th century timber-panelled front door; 2 windows to left; 2 dormers with slate-hung sides to attic.

4-pane glazing in timber sash and case windows. Ashlar-coped skew. Small stack. Graded grey slate. Cast-iron rainwater goods with hopper.

Statement of Interest

B-Group with 64-82 Main Street (even numbers), 86-92 Main Street (even numbers) and 75-95 Main Street (odd numbers). Although these cottages are not of outstanding architectural merit individually, together they make a valuable group of considerable character, forming the heart of Dunlop village, and providing an important setting to the Parish Church, which terminates the view at the end of the street. Each cottage is of fundamental importance to this historic streetscape. This cottage was rebuilt (or remodelled) between the publication of the 1st and 2nd edition OS maps. The rear extension also appears on the 2nd edition OS map.
