This concrete viaduct, by engineers Crouch and Hogg, was built in 1902-4 for the St Fillans to Lochearnhead section of the Caledonian Railway. It is a good example of early 20th century concrete engineering and of historical importance, related to the introduction of the railway to Loch Earn. It is one of a series of three such viaducts/bridges in St Fillans (see separate list descriptions).
5-span viaduct over Allt-An-Fhionn Burn, c80m long. Curved in plan. Channeled mass concrete, with 5 segmental arches. The parapet is defined by a string course and a projecting cope. Above each pier is a shallow refuge in the S parapet.
Materials: Concrete, cast iron rainwater goods.
The Lochearnhead, St Fillans and Comrie Railway, absorbed by the Caledonian Railway in 1901, opened initially from Comrie to St Fillans in 1901. By 1904 it had been extended to Lochearnhead and by 1905 onward to Balquhidder. The line closed fully in 1951.
