Description

J & W Smith, 1849. Sited in bank by back drive to Castle, with coursed, squared granite entrance elevation to section above ground, with waved wallhead, ashlar coped, and simple boarded door. Bank behind and to sides.

Statement of Interest

A group with Venison Larder, Game Larders, Stables, Pony Stables, The Surgery and Iron Ballroom, Joiners' Workshop.

Completed by 23rd March 1849, masonry work on the new ice house was carried out by John Fraser of Aberdeen, and carpentry by John Thomson, also of Aberdeen. Traditional and essential component of 19th century country house estate.
