Description

Graveyard with 18th and 19th century gravestones.

BURIAL ENCLOSURE: circa 1800. Burial enclosure of Agnew family of Lochnaw. Situated to N, interrupting graveyard wall. Limewashed rubble. Ashlar dressings; coping, quoin strips and margins. Flat coping to wallhead. Pedimented W elevation, flattened at apex; blind oculus in ashlar tympanum; ball finial on concave stalk to left, missing to right; doorway at centre, with iron gate; flanking margined panels, bearing inscriptions.

Statement of Interest

Old Leswalt Church was replaced in 1828 by Leswalt Parish Church (see separate listing). On the OS Map of 1847, Old Leswalt Church is marked as "in ruins".

Leswalt Old Parish Church is Scheduled Monument No 7875 and is excluded from the listing.
