Description

Circa 1815. Mirrored pair of 2-storey, basement and attic 3-bay classical terraced houses. Cream ashlar sandstone with polished dressings; rock-faced at basement; polished ashlar rustication at ground; droved to 1st floor. Base course and band course at ground; cill course to 1st floor; cornice and blocking course. Regular fenestration; fluted aprons to 1st floor windows. Steps to panelled deep-set doors to inner bays; rectangular fanlights (fan glazing to

No 10). Dormers; piended to No 10 (one canted); flat-roofed to No 8

(1 tripartite, 1 bipartite).

3-bay basements with doors at centre.

Plate glass timber sash and case glazing. Grey slates; ashlar coped stacks.

Lobbies with decorative glazed tripartite vestibule screens; No 8 with Roman Doric frieze; No 10 with Adamesque reliefs.

STEPS AND RAILINGS: ashlar steps and saddleback base for cast-iron spearhead railings.
