Exterior

Dated l860. Octagonal stone milestone with stepped and moulded cap; splayed out at base. Some faces have lightly droved masonry. Reads as follows:-

- To Merthyr 6 miles
- To London l82 3/4 miles
- To Cardiff 22 3/4 miles
- To Brecon 23 miles
- To Neath l9 miles

The base reads "Erected by the Aberdare Local Board of Health. Executed by H Pritchard contractor Aberdare".
Old photographs show that it formerly had a lamp to the top.
