History

Not built up on 1848 Meyrick estate map; street was named after Edward Laws who died 1854.

Exterior

Circa 1850-60 terraced house in stucco with imitation slate roof and rendered N end stack. Basement and two storeys, two-window range of 16-pane sashes with arch-headed doorway, 4-panel door and plain fanlight. Fine open pedimented timber doorcase with scrolled capitals, modillions to pediment and panelled reveals. Three slate steps. Iron railings (matching those on adjoining houses) to area, slate steps down to basement half-glazed door and 16-pane sash.

Reasons for Listing

No 71 is the single terraced house with the best surviving character in Laws Street.
Group value with adjoining listed buildings.
