History

A late C19 fingerpost.

Exterior

Cast iron finger post with cylindrical base and shaft and two moveable arms with pointing fingers LONGTOWN 6 MILES, ABERGAVENNY 4 1/2 MILES. The third arm, LLANTHONY 5 MILES?, is missing.

Reasons for Listing

Included as a good early example of an increasingly rare street furniture type.
