History

Early C19 and perhaps built by 1810, at which time this side of Pool Street had already been developed. It was a baker's shop in 1895.

Exterior

A small 2-storey shop and dwelling with roughcast front and slate roof. A simple C19 shop front has pilasters framing the door and window, beneath a plain fascia with deep moulded cornice. The doorway to the R has a half-lit panelled door with overlight. The shop window is a wide 4-pane horned sash over a stallboard refaced in rubble stone. The upper storey has a 2-pane horned sash window to the L.

Reasons for Listing

Listed as a rare surviving small early C19 shop retaining early character and for its contribution to the historic townscape.
