History

Recently built at the time of the 1840 Tithe survey, where it is described as 'Pont yr Ithon New Bridge', standing NE of the old bridge, which has subsequently been demolished. The parapets were later rebuilt.

Exterior

A 2-span road bridge of coursed rock-faced stone. The main spans have segmental freestone arches with prominent keystones. The central pier has stepped, pointed freestone cutwaters. On each bank are full-height pilaster strips flanking circular flood apertures A raised band is below the random rock-faced stone parapet with coping.

Listed for its special interest as a fine mid C19 road bridge.
