History

Early C19 frontage with no indication of older fabric and is possibly rebuilt. May have been built together with No. 68 adjoining but has slightly different spaces between the windows. C20 shopfront.

Exterior

Rough rendered and painted front with a Welsh slate roof. Double depth plan. Three storeys, two windows. Modern shopfront with central entrance, flanking single pane display windows. Through archway to left on line of town wall and marking the position of the North Gate. First floor has 6 over 6 pane sashes and second floor has 3 over 6 panes ones, all are replacement joinery. Plain roof with stack on left gable.
Rear elevation both plain and altered.

Interior

Interior not seen at resurvey except that the ground floor has few visible historic features.

Reasons for Listing

Included for its special interest as an early/mid C19 frontage retaining its character, which has strong group value with other historic buildings in the centre of Abergavenny.
