C16 house with alterations and additions. Ground floor always of rubble stonework
with red brick dressings. First floor timber framed and now tile hung. Two storeys,
3 windows. Very high pitched tiled roof. Crow-stepped projecting chimney at south
end. Modern porch and projecting gabled bay. Modern casement windows. Inside
much exposed framing including jowled posts and a queen-strut and windbrace roof
with clasped purlins and diminishing principal. Rafters renewed and windbraces
removed in centre bay. At right framing for smoke bay remains, with its wattle-and-daub
filling and much smoke blackening. Carpenters' marks on rafters. Staircase added
behind but trace of old staircase remains near door.
