Vernon House

A Grade II Listed Building in Winster, Derbyshire

Vernon House, Winster c1940s

Vernon House, Main Street, was the home of the Wild family from sometime after 1911. The 1910 Census has them at Sunny Bank, Wensley Road.

John Wild (1877 - 1953) was a lead miner and was also for many years King of Winster Morris Men. Here he poses outside his home, probably in the 1940s. I presume that also pictured are his wife, Beatrice Amelia Wild (nee Roper) (1876 - 1960) and their daughter, Joan Freda Wild (1916 - 2010)
