Built c1875 y JG Sorby. Ashlar and brick, with ashlar dressings and slate mansard roof. Italianate style. Vermiculated plinth, (the face of the stone sculpted to have a worm chewed appearance) channelled rustication, (the stone blocks with apparently large gaps between, as if fitted by medieval rural builders) first floor cornice and impost band, modillion main cornice and balustrade. Windows are mainly wooden framed casements and French windows. St Peters Gate front, has three recessed windows with cornices and balustrades, divided by Ionic pilasters and with lunettes above them. On either side, a similar window with voussoirs. Above them is a balustrade. Ground floor has four windows with voussoirs, flanking a double door with the Royal arms in a panel above it.
