GV II*

Gatehouse, now museum. C12, with later additions, altered
early C20. Coursed squared gritstone, stone slate roofs. 3
bays deep, wide rib-vaulted passage. Upper rooms reached by a
stone newel staircase on SW corner. Additions made up to the
Dissolution, after which it was converted to a dwelling house.
A C15/16 wing to SW; 2 storeys, 2- and 3-light arched windows
with stone mullions, tracery and cusped heads. Additions of
early C20 to NW in Tudor style with tall corniced chimneys.
INTERIOR: not inspected.
