SS 80 SW SANDFORD

3/182 Barn approx 50m south-west
of Dowrich House

GV II


Barn. C16, remodelled in early C19. Plastered cob and rubble with some brick
patching; slate roof. Much altered gable-ended double barn facing north-east.
Irregular 4-window front. C16 oak shoulder-headed door rear right-end with arch-
headed windows either side and another above. Left window has small loading bay
above. Larger loading bay in centre and another ground floor door. Large C20
garage doors at left end and an arch-headed window above. Right end window is
glazed, others are shuttered. Limited internal access but there may be much
surviving C16 structure. Crossbeams at right end and side-pegged jointed cruck
roof at left end. C16 barns superficially improved in early C19.
