House, now 2 dwellings. Dated 1637 on lintel of door; altered and enlarged
in C19. Coursed squared sandstone with quoins, stone slate roof. L-shaped
plan; 3-bay lobby-entry house with rear wing added to right-hand half in C19.
Two storeys; doorway in line with ridge chimney at junction of 2nd and 3rd
bays, has lintel with raised lettering "I.S. 1637" (=John Savile), a 2-light
mullioned window above and 2 similar windows on each floor to the left, and
2 large inserted cross-windows to the right, with 2-light windows above them.
Left gable wall has large external chimney stack, very small window at 1st
floor to rear of this, and C19 additions at ground floor; right gable wall
has C19 windows and door; rear has inter alia two 2-light mullioned windows
at ground floor and one above.

Interior: altered, and right-hand half remodelled (ceilings raised); left
half (No. 4) has 2 large chamfered beams; king-post roof trusses with
V-struts.
