TRUSHAM BROADWAY (south side), Trusham

3/247 Barn at approx 10 metres
- east of The Old Rectory

Barn now outbuilding. Probably C16. Painted stone rubble and cob with wheat reed
thatched roof; hipped to left, gable end to right and lateral brick stack to rear,
right. One room rectangular plan of 3 bays. Single storey. North west front has
wide double doorway with planked doors approached by steps. Original oak, chamfered
shouldered headed doorframe with replaced central stile. Roof sweeps lower over
door forming canopy. Walling flanking doorway is rebuilt. Old walling extends
beyond barn to right. Slit window to right gable with large window inserted later
below.
Interior has 2 jointed cruck frames with morticed, cambered collars, trenched
purlins and some original rafters. Later hearth in one corner.
Part of a good group.
