Villa. Mid C19 with later additions and alterations.
Pinkish-brown brick with painted stucco facade, Welsh slate
roof and ashlar copings.
EXTERIOR: 2 storeys, 3 first-floor windows, range to right
projects and is gabled, with ground-floor canted bay.
Chamfered plinth. 3 roll-edged steps to central entrance a
part-glazed 6-panel door with overlight and sidelights within
chamfered, segmental-arched opening and moulded hood with face
stops. 1/1 sashes throughout with sills and chamfered
surrounds, those except to bay have hoodmoulds with foliate
stops. Decorative first-floor band. Moulded eaves cornice. To
front gable a decorative quatrefoil in recessed, chamfered
square niche. Pinnacle to apex. Copings. End and rear stacks.
INTERIOR: staircase has elongated onion-on-bobbin balusters;
4-panel doors; marble fireplace to ground floor, cast-iron
fireplaces to first floor; decorative cornices; architraves
with cornices to some doors.
HISTORICAL NOTE: Binswood Avenue was laid out c1828.
Nos 62-70 (even) Binswood Avenue (qqv) form a group.
