House now flats and attached railings. c1832, with later
additions and alterations. Pinkish-brown brick with painted
stucco front facade, cement-tile and lead roofs, and cast-iron
verandah and railings.
EXTERIOR: 3 storeys with attic and basement, 2 first-floor
windows. Rusticated ground floor and basement.
Ground floor: left entrance, 5 roll-edged steps to part-glazed
door with overlight within distyle porch of engaged Tuscan
pilasters and fluted Egyptian columns. Tripartite window, 1/1
sashes under rusticated flat arch with raised keystone.
First floor: tall 6/9 sashes with margin lights with moulded
surrounds.
Second floor has two 6/6 sashes with moulded surrounds and
sills.
Basement has part-glazed, 4-panel door, casement window and
4/8 sash. Frieze, cornice and blocking course ramped downwards
to right. Roof dormers with casements, side stacks.
First floor has continuous verandah with
elongated-figure-of-eight balustrade. Frieze, cornice and
blocking course is continuous with that to No.11 (qv).
INTERIOR: retains original plasterwork and joinery including
pull-up shutters to basement window.
SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: lancet area railings with gate to
basement and to sides of porch.
HISTORICAL NOTE: Dale Street was laid out c1832, the east side
was built by 1834.
