Terrace of houses. c1826-1830 with later additions and
alterations. Pinkish-brown brick with painted stucco facades
and Welsh slate roofs except Nos 5, 7, 11 and 15 have cement
tiles.
EXTERIOR: 2 storeys with basements, 17 first-floor windows, 3
to left, otherwise 2 to each dwelling, canted bay to full
height to No.9. Quoins to left.
First floor: 8/8 sash, two 6/6 sashes with blind boxes; 8/8
sash, 6/6 sash; 8/8 sash, 6/6 sash; 2/1 sash, canted bay has
2/1 between 1/1 sashes; eight 6/6 sashes, the last 4 with
tooled architraves; all with sills.
Frieze, cornice and low parapet except to left, raised to
right and with raised central panel.
Ground floor: side entrance to left a double plank door with
elliptical overlight in solid porch; otherwise steps to mainly
3-panel doors, some part-glazed, and with shop front to No.15
with glass door, mainly with overlights. Three 6/6 sashes with
blind boxes; then canted bays the centres with mainly 4/4, 6/6
and 2/2 sashes between 2/2 and 1/1 sashes, and each with
fluted pilasters, frieze and cornice. Basements have mainly
6/6 and 3/6 sashes.
INTERIOR: not inspected.
HISTORICAL NOTE: Newbold Street was laid out in 1826.
