House now shop with storage over. c1818-1830 with later
additions and alterations including mid C20 ground-floor shop
front. Pinkish-brown brick, colour-washed to front facade,
with Welsh slate roof.
3 storeys, 1 first-floor window. First floor: 6/6 sash; second
floor: 4/8 sash, all in plain reveals with sill and cambered
arch. Ground floor: glazed entrance with glazed shop front.
Parapet to right gable. Ridge stack with cornice.
INTERIOR: not inspected.
HISTORICAL NOTE: Regent Street was so named in 1819 following
the visit of Prince Regent. Known formerly as Cross Street it
was one of the earliest streets to be laid out in the 'New
Town' c1808-1814. Built as houses, the original dwellings were
brick fronted.
Forms part of a group with Nos 48, 50 and 52 (qv) and No.60
(qv) Regent Street.
